The casualties were evacuated from the yacht by Berwick inshore lifeboat crew and transferred to Berwick all-weather lifeboat, medically assessed then transported back to Berwick lifeboat station into the care of Berwick Coastguard rescue team and paramedics.
The inshore lifeboat maintained a safety watch over the yacht until the all-weather vessel arrived back on scene.
The coxswain and Humber Coastguard took advice from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service then once the fire had burnt itself out took the vessel in tow back to Tweed Dock where the local fire crews checked over the yacht for any signs of hot spots. Both Berwick upon Tweed Lifeboats returned to station at 9.40pm.
